Mercure Centro Port Macquarie Hotel, Port Macquarie

I was pleasantly surprised by the room I stayed in. It was an upgrade to a privileged corner room, complete with a lovely package of welcome chocolates. The amenities provided were decent, and there were newspapers and magazines available. The room was smaller than expected based on the ad image, but it was excellent in every other way. The bed was fantastic, the bathroom was sizeable, and everything looked quite new with newish carpet and bathroom fixtures.

The hotel was average overall. The rooms were noisy, with a choice between having the air conditioning on all night or dealing with outside noise by opening the windows, which was not ideal. Service was a mix of slow and apathetic cleaning staff but also pleasant interactions and prompt assistance when needed. The location needed improvement with some areas requiring attention. The dining experience was more disappointing than satisfying. Overall, the hotel had some drawbacks but also a few positive aspects.

The hotel offers clean and comfortable rooms, but the parking comes at an extra cost. The service had its ups and downs, with some moments of cheerfulness but also noticeable tension. The location is superb, right in the city center with everything at your fingertips, although the presentation for the price could be better. The dining experience was average with limited options, and the facilities offered could use some improvement.
